Storms in Queensland, snow on the alps and wintry weather across the southeast

Parts of South Australia have been covered in a blanket of snow as a cold snap causes temperatures to plummet along the country's south coast.Widespread rainfall is also expected over the interior in coming days as a large and complex low tracks east across the country into the end of the weekend.Total rainfalls of 15-30mm are possible over much of NSW, northern Victoria, central and eastern SA and southern Queensland by tomorrow, with most rain falling today in Queensland and NSW.190507 Weather forecast Australia cold snap multiple states News BOMIt's a chilly start to the weekend across a lot of Australia today. South Australia

Snow is already falling in regions across the Flinders Ranges, with the town of Keith recording its lowest temperature on record yesterday at -4.7C.The rest of the state will remain mostly cloudy and cold, with showers in central regions. It will be mostly cloudy, cool-to-cold in the west. Showers, cold in north. Adelaide will have showers, a low of 5 and top of 10.Cold to very cold temperatures, rain or showers and southeasterly winds are expected today and early tomorrow, with a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

Northern Territory

Mostly sunny, warm in the north. Mostly sunny, cool-to-cold over the interior and south.Darwin will be sunny, with a low of 19 and top of 32.

Tasmania

Liawenee broke Tasmania's minimum temperature record this morning, reaching a bone-chilling -14.2C just after 6am.The previous record was over three decades ago when temperatures in Butlers George fell to -13C in 1983.This is the lowest temperature ever reliably recorded in Tasmania and the equal lowest temperature in Australia during the last nine years.Sun came through after a foggy morning in the south, with mostly sunny, cold temperatures in the north.Hobart has a late shower on the way, with a low of 4 and top of 11.There's a strong wind warning through midnight tonight for the Far North West Coast.

Western Australia
