Just under 1/3 of small businesses have reopened: CFIB survey

As provincial restrictions lift, 50% more small businesses have reopened compared to a month ago, according to the most recent survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business — but it varies from province to province.

According to the recent data, just under a third of businesses are currently open, as opposed to 21% last month. CFIB president Dan Kelly said in a press release it is “good news” that businesses are starting to recover after the shutdowns due to the coronavirus but there’s still a ways to go.

“It is important to keep in mind that 67% of businesses remain fully or partially closed due to COVID-19,” Kelly said.
